I went on a site walk with Gloucester Conservation Agent Chuck and Devon to a vernal pond on Castle View Drive. The homeowners, nice couple, were doing some serious landscaping, I mean with backhoes and stuff, and it was likely a lot of newly exposed dirt could run into the pool in a rainstorm. Chuck and Devon had already recommended some of that tubing that looks to be about 10" in diameter, made of compressed straw or hay or something. About 20 feet of it, a few feet from the water. Looked to me like it would do the job. And C and D thought so too. The agents also recommended some native plantings to keep the soil in place for the long run.
