Vernal Pond Walk hosted by Manchester Essex Conservation Trust. Meet at 10:00am.

This year we will be on Preston Place road in Beverly Farms MA. Hart Street to Preston Place at the crash gate at 10am. Register with MECT for further details and to find the exact location, and for any updates or changes.

It’s vernal pool season! Rick Roth of Cape Ann Vernal Ponds and Jessica Kagle of Kestrel Education will be introducing us to the wonders of these rare habitats, opening our eyes to different egg masses, larvae, and adornments of the species that depend on them. Vernal pools are chock-full of biodiversity and provide spring breeding grounds for creatures who spend the rest of the year in the surrounding woods and uplands. This hike will be kid friendly and focused around a short distance, wear boots to get up close. We’re keeping our eyes on the vernal pools to pick a really fun one, so definitely register for updates!

This will be a family-friendly event perfect for children and adults of all ages! Once at the vernal pool, you will be able to venture around the edges and look for a variety of fascinating egg masses and organisms under Rick's direction.
