I got a call from a woman named Tracy yesterday morning. She and her friend found a snapping turtle, about 12" long, just the shell, not counting the neck head and tail. She was right near a rather busy road near Niles Beach. She had been rooting around in the dirt there. Clearly a female laying her eggs. We determined it was most likely she had already laid her eggs... so a decision was made to return her to the pond at Brace Cove, very nearly certainly where she came from. I put her in the back of the Silver Streak and we took a ride to the pond. I set her near the water... and she plunged right in. Another indication she had already laid her eggs. We named her Kaley.
